It's this month's bills: what you've logged as paid, and what's still left. The middle shows how many of them are done. It fills as bills are logged, and closes when the month is finished.

The app can only count a bill as paid once there's a transaction for it. If you don't log bills, it has nothing to point at. Turn on Auto-Post Recurring and they post themselves on their due day, or log one yourself: right-click a bill in Recurring and choose Log Now.

With it on, each recurring bill or paycheque creates its transaction automatically on its due day, so your ledger stays current without you typing. With it off, nothing posts until you log it yourself — right-click the bill and choose Log Now.

No. Each recurring item records the periods it has already posted, so opening the app twice in a day, on two devices, or after a long gap cannot produce a second copy of the same month.

If you really are looking at two rows for one bill, it is almost always one of these:
• the bill exists TWICE as a recurring item — check the list for a near-duplicate;
• it posted automatically AND was also entered by hand;
• an import brought in the same charge the app had already posted.

Settings → Data & Backup → Repair Duplicated Records finds the third. The first two are a quick look down the recurring list.

Set it to inactive rather than deleting it. It stops posting and stops reminding, and every payment it has already made stays exactly where it is — in your spending, in the reports, in the category totals.

Deleting is a different thing: it removes the recurring RULE, and what happens to the payments already recorded depends on what you choose at the time. There is no undo afterwards.

If a subscription might come back, inactive is almost always the right answer. Reactivating is one click and the history is unbroken.

Yes. Settings → Notifications turns bill reminders on and sets how many days ahead they arrive, and an individual bill can carry its own lead time — rent three days out and a streaming charge on the day is a perfectly sensible setup.

A reminder is tied to the bill's due date, so changing the date moves the reminder with it. Marking a bill paid early cancels that month's reminder rather than firing it anyway.
