First budget, first accounts, what to do on day one. 10 answers.
Add your accounts first (Net Worth → New Account), then set budgets for the categories you actually watch. Everything else — goals, the planner, sharing — builds on those two. If you already track money elsewhere, use Import instead of typing it in.
No. There is no account, no email, no password. The app opens straight into your own data. If you want it on more than one device, turn on iCloud Sync — that uses the Apple ID you already have.
Yes — Settings → Privacy & Security → Demo Mode swaps the whole app over to a full set of sample accounts, a year of transactions, budgets, goals and a plan.
Your real data is not copied, edited or moved while it is on. It simply isn't loaded, and it comes straight back when you exit.
It is useful well beyond trying the app out: it is the safe place to explore a feature you have never used, and the safe way to show somebody what the app does without your own finances on screen. Sharing works in there too — sample people, live switches, and nothing you touch reaches a real share.
Home is today's picture. Budget is what's left to spend. Transactions is the ledger. Net Worth is everything you own and owe. Plan is the retirement planner. Everything else lives in the sidebar.
Three places, in this order:
1. SEARCH THIS HELP — nearly every answer names the exact route to a screen, so searching for the thing usually beats hunting for it.
2. THE MORE TAB — anything not on one of the main tabs lives there, grouped.
3. SETTINGS — if it is a preference rather than a screen.
On the Mac, ⌘F searches the whole app from anywhere, including screens you have never opened.
And if something really has moved and you had to hunt, tell us. That is a design problem, not a you problem.
If iCloud Sync is on, there is nothing to do beyond signing into the same Apple Account and opening the app — your data arrives on its own. Give the first sync a minute; it is the slow one.
If sync is off, restore from a backup instead: Settings → Data & Backup → Backup on the old phone, then restore that file on the new one.
🔴 Do this BEFORE you wipe the old phone. A local database that was never synced and never backed up does not exist anywhere else — that is the same privacy promise working against you.
Settings → Data & Backup. You can remove sample data on its own (“Remove Sample Data”) if you only want the demo figures gone, or clear the database entirely to begin from nothing.
Take a backup first if there is any chance you want it back. Deleting is immediate and there is no undo — see “I deleted something by accident”.
Yes — Settings → Appearance, alongside the theme and accent color. It changes how every amount is displayed. It does not convert anything: entering 100 after a currency change stores 100, not a converted figure.
Settings → General → opening tab. If you check the same screen every morning, make it that one.
Settings → Appearance — theme (light, dark or follow the system), accent color and currency all live there.
Green and red always mean money in and money out, whatever accent you pick. That pair is not decoration and does not change.
